Elvis Aaron Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley was born on January 8th 1935 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon in the 1950’s. Elvis Presley is known worldwide for being a popular songwriter and musician and created the rock and roll music genre. Such songs to help boost his career included “Jailhouse Rock” and “Hound Dog”.

Presley was well known for having a very perplex voice and incorporated pop, blues, gospel, and ballads in his style. He has also been inducted into four different Music Hall of Fames and has broke numerous records.

Elvis grew up in a single child upbringing and had a deep relationship with his mother. His father Vernon had built a two room home where Elvis had lived when he was a child. They also attended the Assembly of God Church. Also Vernon committed 8 dollar check forgery and they lost their home as a result and had to move in with relatives.

Elvis attended Lawhorn School in Tupelo and teachers had considered him a very well mannered boy and was very quiet. Kids did pick on him for being a mamas boy and occasionally threw rotten fruit at him. It was on October 3rd, 1945 that Elvis had done his first public appearance at the young age of 10 years old where he was entered into a singing contest after being encouraged by his teacher J.C. Grimes. Eventually he came in fifth and won $5.00 and free tickets to all of  the fair rides.
